Why use Carreg Law for your residential property matter?
We’re solicitors
The practice and its solicitors are registered with, and authorised by, the Solicitors Regulation Authority. You can therefore be assured that you’ll not only get the expertise and experience of independent legal advisors, but also the protection and peace of mind that comes with instructing regulated professionals.
We’re not a conveyancing factory
A conveyancing practice is not a solicitor practice. Conveyancing practices usually employ less qualified staff which can result in a cheaper quote. Although they sometimes call themselves ‘lawyers’, this does not mean they are solicitors. They tend to be connected with banks, building societies, charities, supermarkets or pension companies and get referral fees.
We’re accredited under the Law Society's Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS)
The CQS provides a recognised quality standard for residential conveyancing practices. Membership establishes a level of credibility for firms with stakeholders such as regulators, lenders and insurers as well as residential homebuyers and sellers.
We’re on the panel of approved solicitors for most mortgage companies
If you’re buying with a mortgage, then we need to be on your mortgage company’s panel of approved solicitors. Carreg Law has joined the panel of approved solicitors for most mortgage companies.
We can produce Land Registry compliant plans
We have the necessary software and skills to produce plans required for the registration of land with HM Land Registry. Many solicitors would rely on the services of third parties such as land agents to produce these plans. Comparatively, our fees are very reasonable which often saves our clients hundreds of pounds.
We work electronically
Whenever possible, we work paper-free and using the internet, which keeps things moving at a pace.
We’re independent
We don’t receive any commission or referral fees from companies such as estate agents.
We do a great job!
We’re a friendly, energetic and purposeful team.
Carreg Law’s residential property team
Carreg Law’s residential property team comprises Edward, Carys, Freddie, Anna and Ran. Between them they have over sixty five years of experience in property and have handled thousands of conveyances.
Edward is both a solicitor and a notary public. He has extensive experience of property matters built up over 12 years. Edward’s training and experience as a notary has equipped him with an enhanced thoroughness - a vital skill for property. He is open, transparent and approachable with clients. Edward has an efficient command of IT and is especially adept at using our mapping software to produce plans.
Carys is a solicitor with a comprehensive knowledge of property established over 13 years. Having always worked in Wales, Carys is very familiar with the typical peculiarities of Welsh properties. She is highly organised, systematic and thorough. Carys is dedicated, hard working and has a strong sense of priority, which is certainly helpful when there’s a short deadline to work to.
Freddie has many years' legal experience ranging from a London law firm to running her own practice in Monmouth and, most recently, as Legal Director in the Wye Valley branch of a top 70 UK law firm. As part of the Carreg Law conveyancing team, Freddie continues with her friendly and efficient approach to working with clients. Her aim is to make the process of moving home as seamless as possible and to minimise the inevitable stress for clients.
Edward, Carys and Freddie all speak Welsh, with Edward and Carys being fluent.
Anna is a paralegal and trainee legal executive who specialises in residential property. Anna handles the administration of a residential property matter from start to finish. If you’re new to the buying/selling process, then Anna can helpfully and patiently explain it to you.
As practice manager, Ran supports the team with the administration of your property matter.
The team works together on property matters, so our clients get the benefit of all our skills.
